Praise God 04:14
Praise God Brand new paths Detours Missed exits – Your heart sinks as you go careering past looking back, the path was so clear don’t look back, or you’ll curse the year But a million missed connections give Him a million more ways To help you find your way... “Praise God!” He’ll bring a greater good Out of this mess -- “Praise God!” He’ll transform your tragedy Into beauty So when the coaster starts to roll Raise your hands to Heaven, and Go screaming all the way!... Because the greater good is coming fast Your greater God will pave the way Yes, the greater good is coming fast Your greater God will save the day Like a cosmic GPS, He recalculates another happy ending --- home Opening lines Meeting of minds Your heart sings and your longing soars Turning you on then turning you down possibilities no more But a million missed mates give Him a million more ways To help you find the one “Praise God!” He’ll bring a greater good Out of this mess “Praise God!” He’ll transform your tragedy Into beauty So when the coaster starts to roll Raise your hands to Heaven and Go screaming all the way!... Because the greater good is coming fast Your greater God will pave the way Yes, the greater good is coming fast Your greater God will save the day Like a cosmic GPS, He’ll recalculate another happy ending -- another happy ending -- another happy ending -- home

The Devil’s Dilemma Twin blasts from brother bombers set off a chain reaction of good Limbs torn but hearts are opened Smoke dissipates and Goodness floods in The devil must gnash his teeth when he sees his plans blow up in his face Thoughts and prayers go out as heroes and hearts rush in And prayers are said around the world today the dark begets light galore the dark unleashed light in store Satan recoils in horror at the honor As Samaritans become saints this day That’s the Devil’s dilemma The blast forces the flags back But the ripple extends to every nation A shockwave of sin is a temporary distortion of the natural way As darkness wins a battle – virtue wins the war evil cannot make - only twist These bloodied bodies and mangled memories are not God’s way But the force behind it is real and hell-bent on destruction The twisted minds that plan these attacks will seek ruin in their limited time This realm has not seen the last of their plots This larger war is a marathon for us all each called to serve on the front lines – facing forces just as destructive That tears apart families and shatter dreams facing forces just as corrosive that stain our souls and break our hearts But the good rises again each time, resurrecting us all Placing us on a surer path, making us more alert for the snake that slithers in the shade of the garden That’s the Devil’s dilemma Stay calm, be vigilant Be calm, stay vigilant Stay vigilant

Goodbye Jack 05:29
Goodbye Jack Been too long out to sea in the great north weather With your right hand on a writing pen And a bottle in the other Steam power will not bring you back nor intentions of the best Cause your body broke in two Your spirit stood the test Hard living on the Frisco Bay it ain’t no way to go There are scoundrels on the briney deep and the hills are full of gold Some say you were an sob A Hard to get along But even still I figured you were worth At least a poor man’s song Goodbye jack Welcome home the angels sing a lullabye you’ve been too long alone here’s the place you won’t go dry it’s somewhere tween the milky way and the South Pacific sky Goodbye Jack your soul transcended snow banks, blizzards, icy breaks as your body stumbled downstream taverns for a drink if i listen hard enough nearly always hear it as animal brutality contends with human spirit Goodbye Jack Welcome home the angels sing a lullabye you’ve been too long alone here’s the place you won’t go dry it’s somewhere ‘tween the Milky Way and the South Pacific sky Goodbye Jack As the miners pan for gold live your life too fast slowly stealing vital signs from things not meant to last but you poured it out on the page your uncommon wit from the mountains capped with silver down to streets of grime and grit Goodbye Jack Welcome home the angels sing a lullabye you’ve been too long alone here’s the place you won’t go dry it’s somewhere ‘tween the milky way and the South Pacific sky Goodbye Jack Your love of life was forfeit when you tried to build that fire down in dawson to the sea with the men of forty mile and the daughter of aurora’s waitin’ at the rainbows end she’s calling at the wild with the league of the old men Goodbye jack Welcome home the angels sing a lullabye you’ve been too long alone here’s the place you won’t go dry it’s somewhere ‘tween the milky way and the South Pacific sky Goodbye Jack

In the Valleys I Grow Sometimes life seems hard to bear, Full of sorrow, trouble and woe It's then I have to remember That it's in the valleys I grow. If I always stayed on the mountain top And never experienced pain, I would never appreciate God's love And would be living in vain. I have so much to learn And my growth is very slow, Sometimes I need the mountain tops, But it's in the valleys I grow. I do not always understand Why things happen as they do, But I am very sure of one thing. My Lord will see me through. My little valleys are nothing When I picture Christ on the cross He went through the valley of death; His victory was Satan's loss. Forgive me Lord, for complaining When I'm feeling so very low. Just give me a gentle reminder That it's in the valleys I grow. Continue to strengthen me, Lord And use my life each day To share your love with others And help them find their way. Thank you for the valleys, Lord For this one thing I know The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! The mountain tops are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! The mountain tops they are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! The mountain tops they are glorious But it's in the valleys I grow! But it’s in the valleys it’s in the valleys -- it’s in the valleys i grow! (This poem was written by Jane Eggleston who currently lives in Virginia. Her son Jeff states, "She is a wonderful person, loves Jesus and has been the best mother anyone could ever ask for." What a fitting tribute to any mother.) Lyrics used by permission.

That’s How I Am Mama taught me to treasure hearts Daddy taught me to “finish, but never start...” Tender and tough in equal parts That’s how I am Mama took me to Sunday school Daddy showed me derring-do Superheroes and golden rules That’s how I am Mama brought laughter and fun Daddy said stick to your guns Don’t compromise on principle Stand by your beliefs It’s open to choice what we’re gonna be But the apple don’t fall far from the tree There’s truth in that old homily What my parents instilled lives on in me Mama taught me to lend an ear Daddy showed me how to get it in gear To persevere That’s how I am Mama showed it was okay to cry Daddy exemplified do or die Be and deserve a friend That’s how I am Mama gave a sense of peace Daddy said speak my piece Keep a belly full of fire Not swallowed pride It’s open to choice what we’re gonna be But the apple don’t fall far from the tree There’s truth in that old homily What my parents instilled lives on in me Lyrics by Eddie Watson

about

Save the Day is an EP from Letters from Jeremiah, a solo project of Bill Cote, the singer/guitarist of the alternative rock trio, The Reverse Engineers. Anyone familiar with TRE will notice the similarity in the overall texture of Letters from Jeremiah. That's because the EP features the same three musicians - Bill, Daniel and Charles Cote. The difference between this recording and a TRE CD is the subject matter. With the exception of one cover song, Goodbye Jack by folk artist Ben Bedford, these songs feature Christian lyrics.

One overriding theme throughout the record is how our Lord can bring beauty from tragedy (The Devil's Dilemma and Praise God) or how we grow the most by enduring hard times as in "In the Valleys I Grow". Our God is with us during these trying times and will create a path for us that is something even better than the one we had planned - if we let Him.

The EP contains two acoustic tunes - Goodbye Jack and That's How I Am, allowing the listener to hear how strong these songs are in a simple, stripped-down context. The songwriting throughout shines and God willing, will find an audience among Christian Contemporary listeners -- although many of the songs would feel right at home on a non-religious radio station.
